The Knoxville City Council met in regular session last night. At the meeting the Knoxville High School FFA presented the council with a waste receptacle they designed to be donated to the City, the council approved the appointments of Paula Beaman and Lee Richardson to the Knoxville Fire and Rescue Department and approved a bid from L & L Insulation for asbestos removal at City Hall for $3,740. The council also approved the final costs for the North Second Street emergency sewer repair for a total of $32,294.80 and approved a 3 year contract with Keystone Laboratories Inc. for lab testing at the Waste Water Treatment Plant.

In addition the council discussed prohibiting firearms on all city property, and the possible establishment of an after hour inspection fee for building electrical and plumbing inspections that are conducted outside the building inspector’s regular part time salaried hours of 8am-noon. No formal action was taken on either item and the council will continue to discuss the matters at future meetings.
