Knoxville takes to the wrestling mats one final time at home tonight as the Panthers take on Newton during senior night. Knoxville is coming off a third place finish at the Centerville Invitational. Coach Eric Whitcome says the Panthers finished ahead of many highly ranked teams from Iowa and Missouri. After tonight, Knoxville takes a trip to Whitcome’s hometown of Waverly for the Go-Hawk Duals at state and nationally ranked Waverly-Shell Rock. Whitcome says while the duals may be one of the toughest weekend tournaments in the state, he wants his guys to see what kind of level this need to wrestle at Waverly-Shell Rock, who is coached by Knoxville Native Rick Caldwell…is ranked number two in the latest class 3A polls according to the Predicament. Not only are the Go-Hawks ranked second in the state, they are ranked eighth nationally, and have nine grapplers ranked in the top ten of their perspective weight classes.
