A scoring rally in the third quarter helped the Pella Christian girls basketball team break open an evenly-matched contest with Grinnell, as the Lady Eagles defeated the Tigers 54-41 last night in Pella. Pella Christian held a 23-18 advantage at halftime before out-scoring Grinnell 16-5 in the third frame; then survived a late run by the Tigers to close out the victory.
The Lady Eagles had six players score six points or more, led by Christina Nolte – who had ten. Paige Zylstra had a game-high nine rebounds to compliment her nine points.
The win earned the Pella Christian girls a season sweep of Grinnell, as they improved to 7-2 in the Little Hawkeye Conference to remain in third place in the league; entering a big matchup with conference-leader South Tama for Homecoming on Friday night.
