Knoxville’s four-of-six free throw shooting coupled with a 7-0 run to start the fourth quarter help the Knoxville Girls Basketball squad put away Oskaloosa last night 43-39. The Panthers trailed the Indians 33-30 just seconds into the fourth quarter when Hannah Rosenkrantz nailed three of her team high 14 points to tie, then Katie Ayers had back-to-back turn arounds in the lane to get the lead to 37-33 and hold on for the four point win. Coach Jim Utiermarkt said overall it was a good effort from start to finish. Knoxville is now 6-11 and 3-8 in the Little Hawkeye Conference. The Panthers will try to two in a row against Newton tonight. The boys started off slow and could never recover from a 16-5 first quarter deficit against Oskaloosa as the Indians won 62-31. The Panthers struggled from the field hitting only 28%. Coach Clint Driftmier said the guys never got into an offensive flow. Luke Brady had a solid game with nine points and three-for-four from the free throw line. Knoxville is now 3-13 on the season and 1-10 in the Little Hawkeye Conference, and will travel to Newton tonight.
