The Knoxville boys got down eight/nothing to start the game and could never fully recover as the Panthers fell to Newton last night 59-43 heard live on AM 1320 KNIA. Knoxville got within nine near the end of the third quarter…but the Cardinals would shut the door on any Panther comeback. Coach Clint Driftmier said Newton’s one/three/one zone caused problems all night long. Jamie VanderVeer led Knoxville with 16 points as the Panthers fall to 3-14 on the season and 1-11 in Little Hawkeye Conference play. Knoxville will also host Carlisle in tonight’s Coaches vs. Cancer game…tip off of the boys contest will begin around seven-30.
