The playoffs are already here for two of our area teams as girl’s class 1A regional basketball tips off tonight. Twin Cedars enters the playoffs fresh off of a 45-26 win over archrival Melcher-Dallas to push the Lady Sabers above the .500 mark at 11-10 on the year. Twin Cedars draws the North Mahaska Warhawks in round one. North Mahaska, champion of the South Iowa Cedar League, enters tonight’s game with a 19-2 record with both losses coming to Iowa Valley by a combined three points. The Warhawks are ranked #6 in the state in class 1A. Twin Cedar’s Coach Justin Nolte noted that North Mahaska does not have a lot of size but make up for that with their quickness. Melcher-Dallas hosts familiar foe Seymour in the opening round of regionals tonight. The Lady Saints have blasted Seymour twice this year, the most recent coming last week by a 68-19 score. The winner between the Warriors and Lady Saints will travel to Lamoni to meet the Demons on Saturday.
