This year’s budding girl’s basketball rivalry in the Heart of Iowa Conference is set for its third edition of the year when PCM travels to Bondurant in regional quarterfinal action tonight. The Mustangs are looking for their first win this year in the series which has seen two hard fought games both go the way of the Bluejays. In the first match up PCM battled with good defense but frigid shooting derailed the Mustangs in a 37-26 loss. In the most recent meeting on January 18th’s Coaches vs Cancer doubleheader it was again the Bluejays who prevailed in a close game down the stretch as both teams went scoreless over the final four minutes of the game before a controversial foul call sent Bondurant star Bobbi Burrows to the free throw line where she knocked down both shots with one tenth of a second remaining. Coach Ben Anderson commented that not only were his Mustangs ready for a potential second round match up with the Bluejays but they were looking forward to it. The Mustangs enter the game at 17-5, winners of seven straight. Bondurant enters the game ranked #7 in class 2A, 20-2 on the year, and winners of seven in a row.
