The State Wrestling meet continued yesterday at Wells Fargo Arena in Des Moines. Class three-A got the day started as two Knoxville grapplers hit the mats. Jay Fresh won his first round 103 pound match over Bryce Meyer of Fort Madison seven-to-four while Skylar Spaur fell in his first round 171 pound match to Bettendorf’s Bryan Levsen…however Spaur came back to defeat Matt Seabold of Burlington in a first round consolation match. Today at around nine…Fresh will take on Jonathan Eide of Dowling Catholic in a quarterfinal match while Spaur will Spaur will wrestle an opponent to be determined after the quarterfinal matches. For Pleasantville…Wes Prill stayed alive in the consolation bracket at 140 pounds. Tasker Phillips continued his winning ways for the Trojans at 145 pounds. At 215pounds…Phil Lumley was knocked from the champion’s bracket with a quarterfinal loss to Zach Salisbury of Sumner-Fredricksburg who recorded the pin in 4:56. The P-C-M Mustangs took the mat in the evening session led by Dalton Kingery fell in the quarterfinal…but stayed alive with a win of his own in 2nd round consolation action. Dustin Moore of P-C-M was eliminated from the 215 pound weight class with his loss to Tom McClimon of Central Clinton, DeWitt by a 7-4 score.
