Knoxville 103 pound wrestler Jay Fresh’s dream of a state championship ended last night in the semi-finals of the class three-A State Meet. Fresh lost to Jake Koethe of West Des Moines Valley eight/two…then in the consolation semi-finals he fell to Alijah Jeffery of Linn-Mar. He defeated Jonathan Eide earlier in the day to reach the 103 pound class “final four.” Fresh will wrestle Austin Anderson for fifth place. Meanwhile Knoxville’s Skylar Spaur will wrestle for seventh place against Kyle Putnam of Lewis Central. Spaur last his consolation match last night to Travis Mallo of Mason City. Meanwhile…Pleasantville 145 pound wrestler Tasker Phillips lost to Loren Williams of Tri-Center six-to-five in his semi-final match. Phillips defeated Tyler Hoteck of Waterloo Columbus ten-to-seven and will wrestle for third place today against Shea Taylor of Prairie Valley. P-C-M 119 wrestler Dalton Kingery lost in his third round consolation match to Matt Paulus of New Hampton. Kingery still has a chance to finish seventh place with a win tomorrow against Walker Marshall of Missouri Valley.
