Behind a stingy defense and several key free throws, the Pella Christian girls pulled away from Bondurant-Farrar in the second half for a 55-38 win in Friday night’s Class 2-A Regional Semifinal. In a game broadcast live on 92.1 fm KRLS, the Lady Eagles led the Bluejays by just one point at halftime before outscoring the No. 7 team in Class 2-A 35-19 in the final two quarters to earn their way into the Region 6 Final.

Jasmin Schelhaas led the Pella Christian offense with 15 points – 7 of them at the free throw line – while teammate Paige Zylstra tallied 12 points of her own. Tayler Stursma pulled down a game-high 8 rebounds for the Lady Eagles, with Renae De Bruin also hitting the glass for 7 rebounds.

Bondurant-Farrar’s Bobbi Burrows led all scorers with 17 points, but Pella Christian limited clean looks at the basket for the Bluejay offense, as Burrows was the only player out of Bondurant-Farrar’s leading three scorers to exceed her season scoring average.

The Pella Christian girls are now 19-4 overall on the season and will face Van Buren in Monday night’s Regional Final in Oskaloosa. The Warriors defeated West Burlington 60-56 in overtime in the other semifinal in Region 6 on Friday night.
