Relying mostly on the play of its bench, the Central College softball team picked up a pair wins yesterday by defeating Augsburg 7-3 and Dickinson 4-0 at the Tucson Invitational.
Young pitchers Rhianna Fleetwood and Brie Haycraft shared pitching duties in both games, giving normal starter Kiley Lythberg a day of rest, while Head Coach George Wares also utilized several other back-ups to give several of the regulars time off.
With the wins, the Central softball team is now 4-2 overall, entering a challenging day today; as they’ll face 19th-ranked Wisconsin-La Crosse at 2:00 p.m. Iowa time, and La Verne at 4:00 p.m.
