According to a study conducted by the Iowa Hospital Association, Knoxville Hospital and Clinics generates 250 jobs that add more than $14 million to Knoxville’s economy. The study examines the jobs, income, retail sales and tax produced by hospitals and the rest of the state’s health care sector. Knoxville Hospital and Clinics employees alone spend more than $3 million per year in retail sales and contribute nearly $184,000 in state sales tax revenue. Hospital CEO Ann Helwig says these figures indicate the level of economic impact the health care facility has on the Knoxville community. She says the leaders and staff at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics are invested in the economic future of the community and having accessible health care in Knoxville is crucial to the economic growth of the area.
