As the spring season begins so does the second tour for the Plant a Wish foundation. Last June, filmmakers Sara Tekula and Joe Imhoff were in Knoxville to plant a Red Maple tree as they strive to plant a native tree in all 50 states. The Maui couple recently started the second leg of the tour and so far 27 trees have been planted.

Iowa’s tree, planted near the old Maid Rite building location and soon to be rain garden on the east edge of Knoxville survived a very wet summer and fall and is already budding this spring. The Marion County NRCS office continues to work on the rain garden project and has plans to plant additional trees at the location in the coming weeks.
