The Knoxville School Board voted to implement a comprehensive energy conservation program back in January of 2006, since then the district has saved more than $731,000. Energy Manager Mike Moats gave the board an update on the energy program, which was implemented with the help of Energy Education Incorporated, at their meeting Monday. Moats stated that in addition to the money saved thus far, there is more than $250,000 in grants and rebates the district has or will receive for energy improvement projects, bringing the total return to more than $1 million.
