Pella Christian’s Skyler Giddings just missed a sweep of the three individual distance events to lead the Eagles’ track and field squad to a third place finish at the Rocket Relays at Eddyville-Blakesburg on Tuesday evening. Giddings began the meet with a runner-up finish in the 3200 meters, before taking gold in the 1600 and 800 meter runs. He was also the anchor leg on Pella Christian’s 4×400 meter relay team, which took third.
Chase Carlson also earned individual gold for the Eagles in the 100 meter dash and was the anchor leg on the winning 4×100 and 4×200 meter relays. Pella Christian finished with 108 points in a tightly-bunched top three, just four points behind Durant and seven points off of host Eddyville-Blakesburg, which won the meet with 115 points.
