The Central College track and field squads earned their way into several of Saturday’s finals at the Drake Relays, but came up short in the marquee events for both the women’s and men’s squads.
Rachel Purdy, Emily Teas, Felicia Coleman and Jill Ziskovsky competed in three relays yesterday, breaking the school record in the 4×200 meters and also advancing to today’s finals in the 4×400 meters, but failed to advance in an event they’d dominated throughout the season – the 4×100 meter relay.
On the men’s side, Central’s 4×100 meter relay team of Trevor Veach, Logan Danko, Kyle Wood and Allen Scovel claimed the sixth fastest time of the day to advance to today’s finals as well, but the 4×400 meter relay team placed fifth in their heat and missed qualifying for the finals.
Also highlighting Friday’s action for the Central men’s track and field team was at tenth place performance by Matt Graber in the elete University-College Division of the shot put.
