The Knoxville School District and elementary Parent Teacher Organization are sponsoring an event this week to help get both parents and students excited to continue reading over the summer. At the beginning of each school year, teachers especially at the elementary level are forced to spend the first few weeks recapping skills that were taught the previous school year and if children read regularly during their summer vacation that would decrease the need for re-teaching. Dizzy the Clown will be on hand Thursday for Family Literacy Night in the middle school gym from 6:30-7:30pm. All elementary families are invited to attend and children must be accompanied by an adult.
