A few local officers trade four wheeled cruisers for the two-wheeled variety during Tulip Time and throughout the summer. Pella Police Chief Micheal Marcincowski says all officers on the force are trained to ride patrols in bicycles, and we’ll be seeing more of them out, especially at Tulip Time. Marcincowski says his officers are trained to perform traffic stops on the bikes, and they also offer an advantage when patrolling pedestrian areas.
