Governor Terry Brandstad has declared Saturday “Iowa Museum Day,” as a time to reflect on the role museums play in providing an archive of memory, a source of educational opportunities, and for their economic role in the community. Bob Baker, Executive Director of the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame and Museum says the museum has “a great program” in celebration of the day. The museum will place two famous sprint cars from the 1980 Knoxville Nationals in its front window, and Hall of Famers Mike Brooks of Knoxville and Bob Trostle of Des Moines will meet fans at the Museum from 3-5pm.
