Postseason play begins this evening for the Pella girls soccer team.  The Lady Dutch had a bye for the first round of the Class 2-A Regional Soccer Tournament and will host Little Hawkeye Conference rival Newton in the Regional Semifinals.
The team will be without their leading scorer, Bri Schroder – who is recovering from mononucleosis – and Head Coach Sam Mate-Kodjo – who is in Ghana, but assistant coach Mark Howard says the girls are looking forward to the matchup.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game.  We beat them [Newton] once, and I think in the girls’ minds we know we can beat them, but it’s not going to be easy,” said Howard.
“I know Bri won’t be back, but the girls will be playing for her and for Coach Sam too, so all we have to do is get out there and do what we’ve been doing the last week – and really the whole season.”
Pella’s game with Newton in the Girls Class 2-A Regional Soccer Tournament begins at 6:00 p.m. this evening at the Pella Soccer Complex.
