Chariton scored three runs in the first inning and held control for the entire game in a 10-4 win over Knoxville in baseball last night. The Chargers were able to take advantage of runners on base constantly two more in the third inning, two in the fourth, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. Knoxville closed the gap to 5-2 with two runs in the third but never got any closer. Knoxville Coach Steve Mott says while there are younger players in key positions, no position is safe. Lance Daugherty had a single and double and Bryant McWilliams was 2/4 with an R-B-I. Jacob Cunningham was tagged with the loss going four innings giving up seven runs on eight hits, four walks, and six strikeouts. Caleb Bennett pitched the final three innings of relief. Knoxville is now 6-2 on the season and will host Oskaloosa in a varsity double header tonight.
