The Knoxville City Council met in regular session on Monday. At the meeting, they gave city staff the go ahead to start examining options regarding traffic flow outside Knoxville Raceway during Knoxville Nationals weekend. Knoxville Raceway Director of Racing Ralph Capitani spoke at the meeting, telling the council that some people have to wait over an hour before leaving the parking lot. The council agreed to look into options to help alleviate the problem, including going to neighboring cities and seeing what it would cost to use some of their police officers for traffic control during that weekend.
Also during the meeting, the council approved the purchase of a credit card terminal that would allow credit card transactions at City Hall, and they set public hearings for the rezoning of five different properties.
