Tuesday’s appearance by Sarah Palin in Pella took people a bit by surprise, including Pella Mayor Darrell Dobernecker.

He says city officials met early Friday to make preparations for the event, which garnered nation-wide attention, adding he heard nothing but good comments from the organizers of the event about the city.

The mayor was one of the attendees at the Opera House for the premier of the film about Palin and says he thought it was an interesting look at what national political figures go through while campaigning, adding it had some shock value as well.
