The City of Pella has established guidelines for property owners looking to install solar panels. The Council passed an ordinance during their meeting this week placing panels in two categories, one for residential and one for commercial properties.

City Administrator Mike Nardini says this was an important move as previously there were no guidelines for solar energy systems. He says the zoning board worked with other communities in Central Iowa to develop the plan.
