The Iowa Association of School Boards has had a rough year. The organization was put in the spotlight after it was discovered last year that its director, Maxine Kilcrease, was making almost twice as much money as her salary was set at. The organization has lost membership due to some lack of trust. But Knoxville Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack believes that it’s on the right track. Earlier this summer, Knoxville renewed its membership with the IASB. Flack says that the organization offers great services for board members, like leadership workshops and new member training. He says that hiring Kilcrease was a mistake, but by hiring new director Tom Downs, they are seem as if they are back on the right track.
