Playing without Head Coach Steve Mott because of an eye injury suffered during batting practice, The Knoxville baseball squad gave the fans a night to remember in the final home game of the season as the Panthers also sent South Tama out of the Little Hawkeye Conference with a 5-0 defeat. The Panthers and Trojans were knotted in a scoreless tie until the fifth inning when the Panthers broke through with a run…then opening it up in the sixth on South Tama mistakes. Justin Katich threw a three hit gem going the distance walking one and striking out four. Knoxville is now 13-17, up next for the Panthers is the class 3A district opener tomorrow in Centerville as the Panthers take on Oskaloosa. Assistant Coach Drew Leeper said Mott should be OK and nothing around his eye was broken, but is unsure if he will be able to be with the team in Centerville tomorrow.
