One of the first events at the Marion County Fair was the Clover Kids’ Critter Show. Clover Kids are 4-Hers that have finished kindergarten through third grade. This year, they were allowed to bring a small pet or animal to the fair and talk to the judges. Brady VanderHart brought his toad Sugarplum. He said that he makes sure that there’s always plenty of water for the toad and that he feeds Sugarplum lightning bugs sometimes. This was the first year for the Clover Kids’ Critter Show at the Marion County Fair.
