For a record 11th straight year, the Central College volleyball team has received the AVCA Team Academic Award.  To receive the AVCA distinction, a team’s combined grade point average for the preceding year must be 3.30 or above (4.0 scale).

Central and Wisconsin-La Crosse each broke the all-time record for most consecutive years for receiving the award. Kalamazoo set the old mark of 10 straight years. It’s the 12th time overall that the Dutch have captured the academic honor.

Central was among seven Iowa schools to receive the award, including five from the Iowa Conference. Also recognized were Briar Cliff, Coe, Dubuque, Iowa State, Simpson and Wartburg.

Out of more than 400 Division III schools, Central was among 88 that were honored.
