A firefighter was hospitalized with heat exhaustion after a fire broke out in Knoxville this morning. Knoxville Fire and Rescue, Knoxville Rural Fire & Rescue, Knoxville Police Department, Indiana Township Fire Department, Pleasantville Fire Department, and Marion County Emergency Management responded to 605 W. Marion Street at around 9:15 this morning after a report of a fire at the residence. Knoxville Fire Chief Mike Roberts says that the fire started in an upstairs bedroom, and spread into the attic. After close to an hour, it was contained and extinguished Roberts says that everyone living in the house escaped without injury, but one firefighter was hospitalized with heat exhaustion. The Red Cross has responded to help the family. Marion County Real Estate records show that the lease is held by Terry and Diane Vancenbrock. The cause of the fire is currently being investigated by Marion County Fire Investigator Justin Kingery. KNIA/KRLS will bring you more information as it becomes official.
