Much of southern Iowa faced severe weather during the overnight hours. From 11:09pm through 12:45am Marion and surrounding counties faced a severe thunderstorm, and a tornado warning was issued for the southeastern part of the county from 11:32pm through 12:15am. The KNIA/KRLS Severe Weather Action Team brought the latest information from the National Weather Service, Weathereye, storm spotters, listeners, and from area first responders to our listeners through the duration of the storm. There were reports of trees down in Knoxville, and the National Weather Service reported the sighting of a tornado near Otley, with no damage reported. Approximately a dozen homes in Knoxville were reported to be without power at times during the storm. No damage was reported in the area where the tornado warning was issued. We officially received .8 inches of rain.
