Score one for the home team, Mark Dobmeier (Grand Forks, ND) passed World of Outlaws current points leader Jason Meyers midway through last night A-Main and sailed to victory in the second night of the 51st Annual Goodyear Knoxville Nationals. Dobmeier, who is a regular at the racetrack tows from Grand Forks, North Dakota each week to race at the half-mile and got his eighth win at the track. He said a few changes, a brand new motor and some research and development finally paid off. Meyers settled for second driving a bit under the weather with flu symptoms. The rest of the top five was Brian Brown, Lance Dewease, and charging from the B-Main to finish fifth was Jason Johnson. The top 20 starters are now set for the championship race of the Knoxville Nationals. Wednesday winner Sammy Swindell will start on the pole with Brad Sweet also on the front row for the 50-lap main event. The highest starting Knoxville regular is Dobmeier who will start seventh on Saturday while Dave Heskin who was runner up on Wednesday will start tenth. The top 50 drivers are locked in to their positions for Saturday. 51st and lower will come back tonight and run in the Non-Qualifiers show with the winner starting 11th in the C-Main on Saturday. Also on the schedule for tonight is the Race of Champions and the World Challenge.
