Lowell Ernst is the director of Curriculum for Pella Schools. He had some fascinating things to say about what contributes to a kid’s success in school.

I asked him what is the difference beween a great student, an OK student, and a poor student. The first thing he spoke of was motivation. A great student is motivated to learn, other students less so.

I asked him where motivation comes from, and he says that it comes from parents, other role models, schools, and the community. If a student is surrounded by those who seek to achieve, and is encouraged to achieve, students will likely achieve.

He had many other words of wisdom in a great interview, that you can listen to by clicking below.
