Knoxville placed four runners in the top ten, but was still defeated by Grinnell yesterday at the Tigers Cross Country Invitational. Wick Cunningham was runner-up in the varsity race with Jacob Moats, Erik Ryan, and Jordan Angove placing eighth, ninth, and tenth respectively. Coach Mike Moats was pleased to have closed the gap with Grinnell and was pleased with his second, third, and fourth runners and how they were able to hold on in the top ten. The Panther girls also made improvements as they finished fourth, just nine points from Newton’s third place finish. Alissa Van Klootwyk turned in another top ten performance with an eight place finish. Coach Moats pleased with Lindsay Kaestner’s efforts as her first career varsity race netted her a 29th place finish. Knoxville stays busy this week with another trip north on Highway 14, albeit a little shorter trip to Monroe.
