The Knoxville City Council decided they did not have interest in pursuing a housing development project at Sunset Ridge in a special session Monday. The project would have involved an investment of close to seven figures to help the developer rehab roads like 118th Place or McGregor Street. Many members of the Council said they felt uncomfortable with the idea of putting affordable housing for moderate income families and the elderly in during the first phase of the project. They felt it would keep people from being attracted to put in higher-end housing later in the project, which could keep the City from recouping its initial investment.
