Mayor Don Zoutte proclaimed October to be Breast Cancer Awareness Month in Knoxville at last night’s City Council meeting. Zoutte read the proclamation at the beginning of the meeting. KNIA/KRLS will be having our Breast Cancer Save A Life Radio-a-Thon on October 11 at Knoxville Hospital & Clinics and the 13th at Pella Regional Health Center.

Zoutte also swore in Jodi Bassett as new Deputy City Clerk. The Council approved specifications for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Access Road Paving Contract. The cost for that contract is about $210,000, and it will be now be sent out for bids. Public Works Director Jeff May assured the council that despite it being October, there will be plenty of time to finish the paving.
