With winter right around the corner, motorists may want to make sure that their car is geared up for winter. Arvin Vander Linden is the store manager at Raceway Tire & Exhaust in Knoxville. He says there are a few things that you can do to get your vehicle ready for winter. He says to remember to fill up your antifreeze. Vander Linden adds that it’s also important to pay attention to tire pressure. As temperature drops, tire pressure tends to drop as well, so it’s important to keep the tires filled up. Finally, he says to make sure your tires are in good shape in general to handle the icy roads that are sure to come.

Dave Whatling of Dave’s Pro Auto in Leighton says it’s important to make sure your engine is tuned up and in top running condition going into the extreme temperatures of winter. He also says to refer to your owners manual to make sure you’re using the proper weight of motor oil for the colder temperatures. Whatling recommends warming your engine up completely before driving, as this will let the car run more efficiently and reduce wear and tear. He adds that common sense is key to safety, recommending you check your lights, tires and wipers often throughout the season.
