A potential disaster was averted this morning. At about 5am this morning, Knoxville Fire and Rescue responded to a call to a call at 1804 Delores Street, the northern-most Northridge Apartment building, to a report of a bright red ceiling near a light bulb that appeared to be catching fire. Knoxville Police officers were on scene first and got the building evacuated. Knoxville Fire Chief Mike Roberts says that when firefighters arrived, there were flames in the apartment, but fire crews put them out quickly. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
