Pella Fire Department, Pella Ambulance and Pella Police Department all responded to a house fire just after 9 o’clock this morning.

Crews are working to clean up the scene at 511 East Washington Street. Pella Fire Chief Doug Van Gorkum says the fire started under the stairwell and spread upstairs, forcing fire crews to vent the roof. He says cause of the fire is still under investigation.
