KNIA/KRLS will be participating in the first ever national test of the Emergency Alert System. At 1pm Wednesday afternoon, emergency alert systems across the nation, both radio and television, will interrupt regular programming. This will mark the first time a test has been conducted of the EAS system on a national level. The new national EAS system will allow the Department of Homeland Security and the White House to issue national alerts to all broadcasters, including KNIA/KRLS radio.

The test is expected to last 30-45 seconds. As a participating broadcaster in the Emergency Alert System, we will be participating in this test. A test like this helps ensure that we will be ready SHOULD A NATIONAL EMERGENCY ARISE. KNIA/KRLS will let you know first, fast, and accurately when severe weather or an emergency strikes Marion County. AGAIN, THIS WILL ONLY BE A TEST.
