Central College is staging performances of The Laramie Project Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday this week. In 1998 Matthew Shepard, a young gay man, was beaten, bound to a fence and left to die outside Laramie, Wyoming. Based on over 200 interviews with citizens of Laramie, this play is a picture drawn of the town, its inhabitants, and their reactions to the murder and the resultant media frenzy. The play is directed by senior Eric Bridges. Performances begin at 7:30, and tickets are $5 for general admission, $3 for students and senior citizens. Those with a Central ID are admitted free. Tickets are available at the Maytag Box Office.
