Today is winter weather awareness day. Marion County Sheriff Ron Goemaat says that yesterday’s snowfall is a good reminder for people to have a winter preparedness kit ready in their car. This could include things such as a jacket, gloves, a stocking cap, a shovel, flashlight, batteries, and more. Marion County Emergency Management Coordinator Jeff Anderson says that parents especially need to watch their children, who may not be prepared if they think they are going straight from one location to another. Make sure, he says, that they have their jacket before they get in the vehicle when it’s cold.
