Some farmers put their corn and beans to a different use this year. Morry Blankespoor with Pella Christian tells KNIA/KRLS News that several farmers have donated bushels of grain to the school to help retire debt. Blankespoon says that while the new Pella Christian facilities look complete, there is still considerable debt to retire. Recently, one farmer took 1,000 bushels of grain to Two Rivers Cooperative in Pella, and told the Coop to credit the grain to Pella Christian. The gift is tax deductible, which is an added benefit, according to Blankespoor. The FFA in Pleasantville is also accepting corn and bean donations.
