UPDATE: Power is now restored to the more than 3100 customers in Knoxville and Marion County that were without power, and all traffic lights are now working as well. The power went down for about 25 minutes, starting at around 8:40am Saturday morning. A Mid-American Energy worker says that the power went down after a squirrel got into switch at the switching station.
ORIGINAL STORY (8:53am Saturday, November 12): Mid-American Energy is reporting that there are at least 8 power outages that are affecting more than 3100 customers, including more than 2200 in Knoxville. The traffic lights are not working in Knoxville, including both on Highway 14 and by the square. Please be advised and drive cautiously. Mid-American Energy is looking into the cause of the issue, which is unknown at this time.
