With last week’s snowfall, it’s a good time to remember Knoxville’s snow ordinance. Knoxville Police Chief Dan Losada says that the city will usually call for a snow ordinance when they are expecting more than an inch of snow. When called, it is illegal to park on the city streets until either the street has been plowed from curb-to-curb, or 24 hours after the storm. Cars are subject to a $25 ticket if they don’t follow the rules, and cars on designated snow routes can be towed at the owners’ expense. Losada says he’ll inform KNIA/KRLS about a snow ordinance immediately, so we can inform our listeners right away.
