More than 160 people participated in the 21st Annual Dettman Turkey Trot on Thanksgiving morning in Knoxville. The race was held at the Knoxville Recreation Center. Participants guessed how quickly they would run the 5k race on the morning of the race, with the winner being the person who was closest to their predicted time.
There were three winners that were four seconds off of their predicted time – Joyce Burch, Sarah Jordan, and Bill Herwehe. Wick Cunningham finished the course in the fastest time, with a time of 19:09. Knoxville Recreation Center Wellness Supervisor Trish Worrall says that this was the largest turnout they’ve ever had for the race.
