Emergency personnel from around the Knoxville area gathered at Knoxville Hospital and Clinics last night to review and discuss procedures surrounding hazardous materials and contamination. Facilities Director John Gotta and ER Care Coordinator Darci Fuller discussed how patients should be treated in the field and ambulance bay before being brought into the ER to follow proper hazardous material procedures. Fuller says some of those hazardous materials that hospital staff are concerned about include anhydrous, diesel fuel, hydraulic fluid, and a variety of dangerous chemicals from plants like 3M.
