30-year-old Joey Spegal received a suspended two-year prison sentence in Marion County District Court last week after pleading guilty of assault with intent to commit sexual assault. The Knoxville man was arrested in October after he attempted to force his then-girlfriend to have sex with him in the residence where they both lived. He pled down from the original charge of 3rd degree sexual abuse. Spegal’s sentence includes completing a sex offender treatment program at the Fort Des Moines Treatment Facility. He is to remain in custody until a bed is available there.
