As Christmas approaches, preparing income taxes may be the last thing on people’s minds. But Kevin Wadle, a CPA in Knoxville, says that it’s always important to stay on top of things if you want to save some money. Wadle says that not much has changed in tax law this year, which is usual for the year before a presidential election. One credit that has changed is the residential energy credit. This is a credit for putting in new windows and doors. Wadle says that the credit has not gone away, but now has a maximum lifetime of $500. For many people, that means that they no longer are eligible for it.
