Invent Iowa starts today at Northstar Elementary School in Knoxville. Jean Brandt, a gifted students’ teacher in the Knoxville School District, says the Invent Iowa program offers students a chance to think creatively. Students must create an invention to help solve an everyday problem they or someone else may have. Brandt says these inventions have related to everything from homework to cleaning bedrooms to much more. Students also must present their ideas to fellow students, advancing their public speaking skills. Invent Iowa is from 8:30-10:50 today and Wednesday at Northstar Elementary and is open to the public.
