The Marion County Board of Supervisors approved amending the guidelines for the County’s General Assistance Program during their regular meeting yesterday . Families are now recommended to be eligible assistance a maximum of two months a year. In previous years, that number was three. General Assistance Head Mike Kuhn told the Board that this will help stretch the department’s budget throughout the year. The Supervisors also took the next step in possibly refunding general obligation bonds from 2005. A vote could come as soon as January 23rd and could save the county around $200,000.
